Rameek Peace is accused of threatening people with a handgun on Oct. 21 at the Surf and Stream Campground on Route 571, Manchester police said.
Police were called on a report of a man assaulting a woman inside an SUV, and menacing anyone who tried to help.
A suspect fled before police arrived.
An investigation led by Detective Adam Emmons identified Peace as a suspect, police said.
Peace was arrested without incident while driving in a 2020 Chevy Malibu.
Inside his rented vehicle, police said they seized a silver and black, 40-caliber, Springfield XD handgun that was loaded with hollow point bullets.
Police also recovered about 1000 wax folds of heroin, $2,020 in cash and additional ammunition.
Police also said they conducted a warranted search on Peace’s home where they found two children, a 2-month-old and 2-year-old, left alone and without supervision.
The children were released to their mother, and the Department of Child Protection and Permanency was notified.
Also found in the home was a large quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Peace was charged with making terroristic threats, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, multiple drug and weapons charges, and money laundering, police said.
Peace was being held in Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
Members of the Manchester Township Police Department’s K-9 Unit and Patrol Bureau, as well as members of the Lakewood Police Department, the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office all assisted.
